Monday is for bike riding

Trail map lifted from the MRTC

Today we proved that biking to Aldis is not only possible, but just as easy as biking to Krogers. The only unfortunate side effect is that the Mighty Mon smells worse than Deckers Creek. GROSS. We didn't have to bask in the stench for long though, because while it takes quite a while to walk from the Waterfront Park to Aldis, it takes barely 10 minutes to ride on a bike.

That little jaunt was in no way challenging enough for us, so we continued south on the Mon River Trail. It turns out that once you make it past the dam, the sewage treatment plant and the Greer facility, the Mon has no offensive odor. It was actually quite a nice ride! This leg of the trail system is fairly level throughout, not at all like our ride out past Sabraton last week. Somewhere past mile marker 15 we ate our lunch in a pleasant field. Nothing to hear but birds chirping and a woodpecker off in the distance. It was awesome.

The trek homeward was slightly uncomfortable because our butts are still not quite used to the bike seats. We took a break and did some grocery shopping at Aldis, tonight we're having chicken Marsala with orange peppers, onions and chickpeas, rice and Naan. And yes, this all fit in my bike basket, which is so freaking cool because it pops right off the bike with the touch of a button and I just carried it right into the store and used it to shop.

And no, I did not get paid to say nice things about this basket, I bought it on sale at KMart.
