This is my Grandma's Christmas present, just finished up today (I don't knit so fast, but I am getting better). It was made using Carol's Clever Little Shawl pattern by Carol Sanders. It is clever because of the way it closes, one front piece can tuck right through the other and so it looks like a knot (sort of) but it's really just a channel. The lace points are made with super simple Yarn Overs and the whole piece is subtly shaped using Short Rows. All done in Garter Stitch, which can get kind of boring for me, but I like the way it came out (and that makes it reversible too). Very simple, but that was what I wanted so I could get it done by Christmas (HA!). Grandma will be impressed, I think she was expecting it as a birthday present. :) Hopefully I can deliver it this weekend weather permitting.
It is blue, just like she asked for, and this color is called Ocean. I went through three other yarns before I found the right one for her. (Well, two of them were way too fuzzy, and the Italian silk/wool that I originally picked out for the project was vetoed due to it being difficult to wash - maybe it'll show up in somebody's Christmas Present next year!)
It was something warm to do while sitting on the couch watching the snow fall. And Harley loves to sit with me while I knit. Twice as warm, with a cat in your lap.

That is so beautiful! And the way you have it pictured looks like it came straight out of a magazine! You are so cool. Will you teach me to knit?! I have been needing something to create in the evenings. :)

Of course I will teach you to knit! It is a fun and useful hobby, if a bit expensive at times. Do you have a local independent yarn store in Marietta?
