With a hacksaw...

We spent a lovely afternoon in Clarksburg. We were celebrating Mom's birthday with "The New Lard Bomb" doughnuts from a bakery Trisha found in Ohio. I made a pot of Chili. Zoey made cute BABY noises. My sister and I got into a heated debate about childhood vaccinations. Delia built pyramids out of the gold foil wrapped Easter candy in the candy dish. Keith saved the day by removing a ring that was stuck on Dad's finger. Then he fixed a minor water-related emergency in the basement. It was an exciting day at Mom's!

Hope Stan's hand is OK. I'm glad you blogged about it. Nice photos of some of my favorite people!
I miss you guys.
Got my car running again, thanks to AAA and the nice guy from the wrecker company.
Ed might make it home sometime tonight. I hope.

His hand seems to be fine, there was no broken skin, and what I thought was bruising, Trisha decided it was just a dirt mark from the hacksaw blade. The redness had gone down by evening, but he's still swollen (all over, I think it's a side effect of some medicine or other).
I wanted Keith to write the blog about how it all went down, since he did it, but if he doesn't get around to it I will, because it is an exciting story.

Glad you got the ring off. I hate that feeling! Glad to hear he is ok...

I generally try soap & water before I get out the hacksaw, but that's just me.

We tried EVERYTHING. Mom evidently lathered him up with lotion and vegetable oil and butter and God only knows what else. I tried having him hold his hand above his head to let the fluid drain, but he wasn't having much luck keeping it up there. We soaked his hand in ice water, but that was uncomfortable and didn't work either, and I almost wrapped his finger with dental floss to try to compress the flesh and slide it off that way, but by the time we found the floss Keith was already there with the hacksaw blade snaked under the ring.
